Newspapers from Lakeland, Florida, to Salt Lake City, Utah – and nearly everywhere in between – are writing, blogging, and talking about the passage of the GIVE Act!
The bill’s passage is being touted as a bipartisan victory which will usher in a new era of national service. Proponents of the bill come from both sides of the aisle, as well as from within the Obama administration. First Lady Michelle Obama is an especially strong supporter of the GIVE Act. The New York Times writes:
The legislation is a top priority of the first lady, Michelle Obama, who has said public service will be a main focus of hers in the White House. She founded the Chicago chapter of Public Allies (an America Forward coalition member!), an AmeriCorps program, after leaving her law career.
We are so excited about all of the positive press the GIVE Act is getting, and the traction this is generating for social innovation!
