Paula Broadwell, a retired Army Officer and research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership, joined the growing number of former and current military officials who support the Serve America Act. Broadwell’s editorial, which appeared yesterday in the Charlotte Observer, described the legislation as “a glimmer of hope during these dire economic times.” Broadwell pressed the Senate to pass the bill, saying:
Our country has an urgent need for this legislation. The way out of this economic crisis is to invest in our citizens – their service, their innovations and their will – to make a difference. All citizens will benefit from this legislation and should take an active part in helping pass it.
We could not agree more! The Serve America Act will expand opportunities for national service while partnering with social innovators to find creative, effective, solutions to our nation’s most pressing challenges.
