Social entrepreneurs Jim McCorkell (CEO of Admission Possible) and Alan Khazei (founder and CEO of Be the Change, and co-founder of City Year) spoke out about the importance of national service on Minnesota Public Radio today.
McCorkell and Khazei each spoke about their personal experiences working for high-impact organizations that have had a dramatic effect on the communities in which they serve. They went on to make an impassioned argument in support of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act – and the opportunities it will create for Americans from all walks of life to come together as a powerful workforce for change.
Khaezi described the legislation as “a way for us to achieve measurable results for most pressing challenges at incredibly efficient cost.” McCorkell concurred, emphasizing the value national service adds to American society as a whole.
