News Archive, Serve America Act

Senator Chris Dodd joined the ranks of national service champions – including Senators Kennedy, Hatch, Mikulski, and Enzi – to speak out in support of the Serve America Act. In a statement issued on the Senate floor yesterday, Senator Dodd urged his fellow legislators to pass this important bill.

All across the country, Americans are coming together to do what they can to improve their communities — to clean up rivers, to mentor children, to help the homeless. Whatever the challenge, Americans are standing up to meet it. This legislation, the Serve America Act, will make it easier for more Americans to get involved, to make a difference.

The Serve America Act will pave the way for the government to partner with social innovators to find creative, effective, solutions to our nation’s most pressing challenges. At the same time, as Senator Dodd emphasized, the bill will expand opportunities for Americans of all ages, and from all walks of life, to serve.
