America Forward coalition member Sports4Kids was in the spotlight yesterday, leading basketball and soccer skills stations at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.  This year the event, which has been a fixture of the White House calendar since 1878, featured games and activities designed to engage children in healthy play.

In a press statement, First Lady Michelle Obama declared:

“This year’s theme is Let’s Go Play! We want to encourage kids to lead healthy, active lives.”

Sports4Kids, an innovative nonprofit that is currently changing the landscape in low-income schools using little more than a red rubber ball and sidewalk chalk, is dedicated to doing precisely that.  At more than 180 schools, in eight cities across the country, Sports4Kids is using sports and games to teach life long skills including leadership, teamwork, and conflict resolution, while simultaneously engaging children in healthy, active, play.

We are excited to see the White House highlighting this innovative and highly effective organization!
