America Forward Coalition Members Step up — January 2022

Every month, America Forward is highlighting a few examples of the vital work being done by our Coalition members to support students, families, educators, workers, elected leaders, advocates, and communities across the country. Nurse-Family Partnership ​​

To improve access to maternal health care, Nurse-Family Partnership connects first-time moms with a personal nurse, to provide support and guidance throughout the pregnancy. They also offer a comprehensive compilation of resources for families including information on income, housing, food, insurance and prescription, pregnancy, and breastfeeding assistance, as well as additional parenting resources.

POWER

In service of their mission to advance racial, climate, and economic justice in communities across Pennsylvania, POWER offers a range of accessible resources on their website, including organizational documents, reading materials on race, faith, and power, campaign reports, information on voting, civic engagement, and criminal justice reform, and more.

PAVE DC

The pandemic has put immense strain on children and parents alike. To figure out how to best support their community in this moment, PAVE convened over 60 parent leaders to identify parent priorities for the 2021-2022 school year. Their #ParentPriorities video highlights the two main issues they landed on — school-based mental health supports and out-of-school-time (OST) programs — and what advancing these priorities would mean for the parents and students they serve.

UnboundEd

UnboundEd works to design learning for educators that exemplifies equitable instruction and centers the experiences of Black and Brown students, so that all learners have access to high-quality teaching. To advance this work, UnboundEd offers educator resources that tackle a range of issues, including an Anti-Bias Toolkit, an Equity Reset Toolkit, and an Equitable Learning Recovery Toolkit.

Root Cause

In November, Root Cause hosted a webinar workshop series introducing their Program Quality Roadmap, “a proven system for building equity and excellence in social service organizations.” The virtual workshops are now available online, and cover topics ranging from Evidence-Informed Program Design and Trauma-Informed Approach, to Referrals and Partnerships, Program Accessibility, and Family and Community Engagement.

Alternative Staffing Alliance

Alternative staffing is a strategy that functions to connect individuals facing barriers to employment with job, workforce, and skills development opportunities. To support the alternative staffing sector, Alternative Staffing Alliance provides key resources with guidance and information on creating, navigating, and maintaining an alternative staffing enterprise.
