America Forward Coalition Members Step up — March 2022

Every month, America Forward is highlighting a few examples of the vital work being done by our Coalition members to support students, families, educators, workers, elected leaders, advocates, and communities across the country. CASEL

CASEL has long championed social and emotional learning, leading efforts to integrate SEL into education policy and practice for decades. As part of their District Research Center, which “helps school districts make social and emotional learning (SEL) an integral part of every student’s education,” they offer a vast library of SEL resources across a range of topics, issue areas, and key activities.

LEAP Innovations

LEAP Innovations is working to make personalized education a reality for every learner, transforming educational approaches to best meet individual needs. To support this effort, they offer tools and resources across a range of categories, including resources for classrooms, student learning outcomes, student happiness, student ownership, positive classroom culture, and student engagement, as well as an option to collaborate with the LEAP community by sharing a resource to the page.

Peace First

Peace First is dedicated to ensuring that young people have the tools and resources they need to create a more just and peaceful world. Their Peacemaking Tools page includes helpful guidance and information in support of this work, including Core Peacemaking Project Tools, Action Tools, resources for educators and facilitators, and more.

The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program

The Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program (FFRP) works with trained, justice-involved firefighters to combat wildfires in California, while providing wraparound services to support the transition from incarceration to employment in the forestry fire labor force. A new documentary from the Los Angeles Times highlights these firefighters, their work and the new fire crew the organization is building.

Millennial Action Project

Millennial Action Project’s (MAP) State Future Caucus Network was created to “engage the youngest state legislators to find common ground.” To support their mission, MAP offers State Future Caucus Network Resources for their members and the public, including Best Practices for Future Caucus Success, State Future Caucus Legislation, and State Future Caucus Network Priority Issues.
