Our nation’s education system is stuck in the last century. We must find new ways of educating our students that harness the skills and talents of every student and support those who face significant barriers to achieve their full potential.
Education is the key to both individual opportunity and to building a shared future for our nation, yet the current one-size-fits-all approach to education is ineffective for too many students, limiting their chances for a successful future and suppressing our nation’s potential.
We can support educators with the resources and capacity needed to meet students’ academic and nonacademic needs. We can fund what works in education and focus our efforts on evidence-based outcomes, not just inputs. We can support innovative efforts to transform K-12 education to meet the needs of all learners, including those who have been consistently under-served. We can give students access to hands-on learning opportunities outside the classroom through externships and mentorship. And we must create pathways for students to – and through – higher education and into meaningful employment. We need policies that promote the educators, communities, and partners taking on this critical work.
Moving Education Forward
We can unleash the potential of all students though policies that promote meaningful innovation in the classroom.
For instance, New Teacher Center is on track to support one third of all new teachers in America and is working to empower today’s educators with practical resources and research based tools to support learner variability.
The way our students are taught in schools is stuck in the last century. Tell America’s leaders it is time to reimagine learning!
