America Forward: Statement Applauding Introduction of the Trauma Informed Schools Act

“Members of the America Forward Coalition applaud Representative Katherine Clark (D-MA) on the introduction of H.R. 7320, the Trauma Informed Schools Act of 2018. This legislation contains important policy provisions championed by members of the America Forward Coalition that would help States and school districts across the country adopt and expand the use of evidence-based practices to better identify and assist students experiencing trauma. The Trauma Informed Schools Act would also ensure that teachers, principals, school leaders, and other educators are equipped with the training and professional development necessary to understand trauma’s impact on learning and better support students facing adverse childhood experiences outside of school. The America Forward Coalition looks forward to working with Representative Clark to champion this important piece of legislation.”
