America Forward Applauds House Passage of Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act

Members of the America Forward Coalition issued the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act on Thursday, June 22, 2017:

“Members of the America Forward Coalition applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for approving H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. Introduced and passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, this important piece of legislation includes a focus on results through innovation, evaluation, and alignment of the secondary and post-secondary career and technical education space for real impact for students and job seekers. The inclusion of innovative concepts and practices such as career pathways and early college programs are integral for improving student outcomes and aligning our post-secondary and workforce development systems. Additionally, we are pleased with the inclusion of an innovation fund and the use of Pay for Success contracting in the bill, which will bring a greater focus on outcomes and evidence to the post-secondary career and technical education space. The America Forward Coalition looks forward to working with policymakers in the Senate to advance a similar bill.”
