The meeting in Las Vegas will bring together leaders, development professionals, educators, and more who align with their work to bring leaders of color into education, shape policy to value equity and empowerment and support the development of generational wealth in communities of color. Educators for Excellence

Educators for Excellence is a teacher-led organization that helps bring teachers to the important conversations around the policies and politics that affect their work and their students daily. Last year, they took together a survey of educators across America. They compiled those results into a reflection, Voices from the Classroom 2022, where you can read about their findings on the status of teaching and educators in the country today. To get involved, you can take action on their website by adding your name to advocate for policies they work on or finding an event to attend near you.

AppleTree

AppleTree Institute works to close the achievement gap by supporting childcare for children under kindergarten age at their schools across the D.C. area and developing solution-oriented research. Their Every Child Ready instructional model provides coaching for administrators, educators, and families on how to meet the developmental needs of their learners, lead with their guiding principles of nurturing, inclusivity, playfulness, diversity, intentionality, balance, and reflection. The First 72+

The First 72+ assists those who are reentering the community after prison to become independent and secure through education, housing, healthcare, and employment to stop the cycle of incarceration. Their services allow these community members to get on their feet and rejoin the outside world by offering them help to access the necessary legal services, connections to food banks and clothing, vaccine clinics, peer support groups, and more. For those looking to access such resources, they offer a collection of re-entry resources on their website.

Turnaround

Turnaround works to develop resources and research, in partnership with educators and academic leadership, to promote the most intentional, supportive learning that uplifts the whole child and promotes equitable thriving. Their website features the Turnaround for Children Toolbox, designed to reshape how we think about education by providing evidence-based resources for educators and child-care workers to access. You can also watch a pre-recorded webinar available online for an overview of their platform and toolbox.
