America Forward Coalition Members Step Up — October 2023

Lastinger Center for Learning

The University of Florida’s Lastinger Center for Learning works to research and develop high-quality education and childcare-based innovations throughout Florida and the country, focusing on early learning, literacy, mathematics, and leadership. This fall, the Lastinger Center is launching a Listening Tour to connect with students, families, educators, and advocates across Florida. Latinos for Education

Latinos for Education works to advance Latino school leaders, Latino voices in education, and the fight for education equity for Latino students across the country. This summer, they surveyed 400 Latino educators and parents in and around Houston, Texas – research that revealed a strong desire for increased numbers of and investment in bilingual education programs and bilingual educators. New Politics 

New Politics is a bipartisan organization working to recruit Americans who have shown a dedication to service, and support them in running for elected office across the country. Started in 2020, The New Politics Podcasts uplifts the voices of those who have served our country through the military or a service program, such as AmeriCorps or Peace Corps. Most recently, they featured Cristina Flores, New Politics’ Director of Partnerships & Growth, discussing the importance of partnerships and connections to New Politics’ work. Listen today!

Peer Health Exchange

Peer Health Exchange partners with high schools across the country to support their health education programs and build healthier, more equitable school communities. As part of this mission, they run Selfsea, a website dedicated to sharing resources and advice by and for the young people they serve. Earlier this month, they launched their first episode of The Pheed: Take Five, where they discuss current events and how they relate to youth mental health, as well as how young people can support themselves and their peers.

Push Black

Push Black is the leading nonprofit media organization highlighting the news and history of Black communities by amplifying Black voices. Their signature podcast, Black History Year, aims to shed light on Black history and perspectives and is available for listening now.
